Every day visits*
From Moose, Goose, and Orb Weaver
All seized by Haiku

"Why moose and goose?" you may ask. Back on 2/04/13 Pirate wrote a haiku with an elk in it, and I responded with
one with a moose and then included him every day. A few days later in comments Mystic asked "Where's the goose?"
So I started including her with this post on 2/07. A week later on the 14th, Mark Readfern
asked for and received a spider. The rest is history.

*Well, most days, anyway. Grant me a bit of poetic license.

Shadow Shot Sunday - Mellow Yellow Monday

Granddaughter Alexa's 5th Grade Class had an original poetry event on Wednesday.  Here she is, reciting her poem, "Shadows."

             SHADOWS

With a shadow by your side
You'll never be alone,
Even down the emptiest street
Of a deserted town,
Down a long, twisted road
Both of you walk together,
With haunting memories
Following close behind,
Ghosts of memories
That will never leave your side.

In the brightest light
Your shadow friend will connect
You to the dark side.

And now the Yellow!

Here is the entire class in a group shot with their teacher and student teacher.
(Back row, either side of the "V.")

And another Shadow

  1. Oh, my! Alexa might "out-poetize" her grandpa! Good job with the poem, Alexa--and good job with the shadow shot, Grandpa!

    FRAGMENTS OF LIGHT

Since shadows are fragments of light,
Most gracefully they can take flight
    And soar through the air
    (They do this, I swear)
As though they were some sort of kite.

  4. Even some of the kids in the Voicing Verses photo are dressed in yellow!

    BETTER THAN BLING

Some yellow is just the right thing
    To make a sad heart start to sing;
    It fills you with cheer—
    Now isn’t that clear?
It’s better than any old bling!
