Every day visits*
From Moose, Goose, and Orb Weaver
All seized by Haiku

"Why moose and goose?" you may ask. Back on 2/04/13 Pirate wrote a haiku with an elk in it, and I responded with
one with a moose and then included him every day. A few days later in comments Mystic asked "Where's the goose?"
So I started including her with this post on 2/07. A week later on the 14th, Mark Readfern
asked for and received a spider. The rest is history.

*Well, most days, anyway. Grant me a bit of poetic license.

Sensational Haiku Wednesday - Paradox

PARADOX

I

You save more and spend
Less - Bad Economy, the
Paradox of thrift!

II

Where does logic takeYou?
On a long, strange journey
To a paradox.

III

Sometimes life just aint
Easy.  Good choices, but bad
Outcomes: Paradox.

IV

My paradox is
Quite unorthodox: it has
Metaphysicians.

Sorry.  That last one is an even worse play on an old, bad chemistry joke.   It's marginally funnier (at the link) if the symbols are "MD" rather than "Doc."

L..A. Times Crossword Puzzle Blogging

Wednesday, March 30, 2011  James Sajdak

Answer grid.

Theme:   Welcome to LA-LA Land.  Or LA-LA-LA-LA, I can't hear you.  Or maybe it's L.A. LAW.  Sometimes it's hard to come up with a theme title.  Maybe I should have saved these for when I need them, but instead you get multiple choice today.  Both words of two-word theme answers begin with the letters "LA"  Hence the LA-LA, who was also a Teletubbie.

17. Whip-cracking cowboy of old films : LASH LARUE.    I remember this guy from comic books.

21. Ethel, to Lucy : LAND LADY.   Lucy and Dezi rented a brownstone on E. 68th St. from Fred and Ethyl Mertz, played by William Frawly and Vivian Vance, who hated each other in real life.

35. Sky blue : LAPIS LAZULI.   This is an intensely colored blue gem stone, or the ultramarine pigment extracted from it.  Also, a cloned daughter of Lazarus Long in Heinlein's epic novel, TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE.  I'm delighted to tell you my daughter is not my clone.

51. Wax-filled illumination : LAVA LAMP.   The heat generated by the lamp bulb caused thermal currents in two viscous immiscible liquids, which would flow through and around each other. Since I remember the 60's, it's clear I did not experience them.

56. Victor's chuckle : LAST LAUGH.  Indeed. He who laughs last, laughs best.

And the unifier.  29 D . '80s-'90s legal drama, and this puzzle's title : L.A. LAW.  One more immensely popular T.V. show that I never watched.

Hi, gang, Jazzbumpa here - your tour guide through LA-LA Land.  Let's set out and see what we can discover.

Mellow Yellow Monday

.
Since I posted a picture of fresh Spring crocuses last week, we've had nothing but cold, and even snow on Friday.  Now the yellow crocuses have some purple companions. It's bright sunshine, but still cold now.   Maybe Spring will arrive, some day.

I snapped this not-particularly good shot with my phone-cam today.

Through cold sun and snow
Brave little crocuses stand,
Lucky not to croak!

Mellow Yellow Monday

Some incidental yellow here in pictures taken a few Januaries ago at the Plymouth Winter Festival.

Kellogg park was temporary home to a variety of ice sculptures.   Temps were in the upper 30's that day, and the Moose had a runny nose.

Great frozen creatures,
Denizens of an ice age,
My thaws are with you.

Haiku Heights - Prompt 33 - COLD -- Sunday Music Blogging

My lovely wife spotted this robin atop the crab apple tree in our front yard, earlier today.

I grabbed the camera and snapped this poor quality shot through the window screen and between the blind-slats seconds before it flew away.

It's just barely visible, framed in the neighbor's window.

COLD

Harbinger of Spring
Perched on a cold, bare branch; you're
The too-early bird.
