Every day visits*
From Moose, Goose, and Orb Weaver
All seized by Haiku

"Why moose and goose?" you may ask. Back on 2/04/13 Pirate wrote a haiku with an elk in it, and I responded with
one with a moose and then included him every day. A few days later in comments Mystic asked "Where's the goose?"
So I started including her with this post on 2/07. A week later on the 14th, Mark Readfern
asked for and received a spider. The rest is history.

*Well, most days, anyway. Grant me a bit of poetic license.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

     ROOT AND BRANCH

I never thought that I would be
Moldering beneath a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against what used to be my chest;

A tree who sends its roots down deep
To draw on my eternal sleep;

And up above its branches grow
Nourished by my limbs below.

Poems are made by food like me.
Who might end up feeding a tree.

  1. And still from the trees grow poems like on the leaves..

    Wonderful thoughts .. but I'm sure those poems are not yet signed by you.

  2. I saw an article on this subject, and I quite like the idea of being food for a tree but perhaps not left in a pod-like casing.

    I like the whimsy of your piece, and especially the final couplet.

  3. That's a really cool way to see the never ending cycle

  4. I too like the idea of being food for a tree--humility and practicality in death--

This is a fun blog. Light-hearted banter is welcome. Snark is not. If you want to fight, find my other blog.

Play nice, and we'll all have fun.

I like to return visit, when I can - but I need to find you. If you have multiple blogs, please leave a direct link to the appropriate post.

Cheers!
