EYES
When I look at you
I see the love that we share
When you look at me
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Eyes can be windows
Peering into someone's soul
They can be mirrors
~ ~
Eyes can be weapons
Piercing like spears; or caress
With a velvet touch
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Eyes can be faucets
Giving release to sorrow
Water for the dead
~ ~
Great grandmother's eyes
They once sparkled with her love
Now closed forever

windows...mirrors..spears...velvet..and faucets..and reflections of love..you have captured "eyes" very well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, KZ.

Unfortunately, I am well acquainted with eyes as weapons!
ReplyDeleteYeah - I've been stabbed a few times myself.

What a wonderful set. 'They can also be mirrors' - how true.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
I was reminded of how my mother would send 'darts' across the room with her eyes, and I heard her clearly!
ReplyDeleteThese are each a little gem throwing light on the wonderful gift we call our eyes! I laughed when I got to the piercing verse, having just come from Lolly's place where she referred to that look as the 'stinkeye' known to all misbehaving children!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful compositions, I especially like the weapon one.

Beautifully crafted, JzB - every single one of them! And I kept returning to the first one after enjoying all...
ReplyDeleteWow - such nice comments.
ReplyDeleteThanks, all of you.
Cheers!
